Weddings in Como, Maggiore & Orta - Italy
Lake Como - Lake Maggiore - Lake Orta
Walking out onto the lake on the hotel jetty, the bride is assisted into a beautiful, wooden Riva motorboat. Riding over the lake waters the rainbows chase the boat’s wake. The bride arrives at the palatial villa and upon entering the string quartet begin. The music dances through the columns and over the intricately designed stone balcony, twisting and flowing like the ivy which decorates the loggia. The groom, waiting under an arch of flowers and silk smiles expectantly. During the ceremony the views out onto the lake create a unique backdrop. Sparkling blues of the water, multihued greens of the vegetation of the opposing shoreline, the pastel yellow and creams of the balcony, soft and romantic shades, generate a dreamy and exceptional accompaniment to the ceremony.
Aperitifs are served on the lawn overlooking the lake. Guests walk on the paths bordered by marble statues and shading trees while nibbling on canapés and sipping Italian champagne. Dinner is served in a stylish marquee. Upon entering the marquee, the sweet fragrance of the roses, which twist up the stem of the candelabras, is greeted with the scents of herbs from the gardens. An elaborate 5 course dinner takes the wedding party on a gastronomic journey. In the evening after dancing, the wedding party take the lantern-lined path to the jetty where a boat awaits. During the journey back to the hotel, the boat chases the moon’s reflection in the waters as the stars bounce and tumble in the ripples.

Lake Orta weddings
On Lake Orta, listed as one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy, is the charming lakeside village of Orta San Giulio. Small piazzas with frescoes lovingly painted in pastel shades on the buildings, arches supported by columns and their elegantly detailed capitals and wrought iron balconies with gracefully twisted shapes, are all elements that make this fairytale village a captivating wedding location. As this lake is not inundated by tourism, a visit to this village and its island is intimate, peaceful and romantic. Palaces and buildings almost seem to grow out from the lake. Instead of the more common motor boat found on the other Italian lakes, it is possible to hire a rowing boat. A local will take charge of the rowing while you sit back, relax and watch the world go by as the rhythmic lapping of the water takes you into a hypnotic admiration of the world which surrounds you.
